When a person’s heart does not beat normally, our doctors may use electro physiologic studies to find out why. Aging, heart attacks and other diseases may cause scarring of the heart which may lead to the heart beating in an irregular pattern. Abnormal electrical pathways found in certain congenital heart defects can also cause these rhythm disturbances.

A specialized electrode catheter designed for electrophysiologic studies sends electrical signals to your heart and records its activity.
